Sadık Özgür
A Promise to His Hometown
Sadık Özgür was born in Bayırüstü village in Divriği. He founded Kale Kilit, but he never forgot his hometown.
He invested in schools, healthcare and infrastructure. One of the strongest traces of his bond with Divriği was a promise born from suffering in the region.
The Promise
Women were giving birth on the road, and heart attack patients were dying before they could reach Sivas. This real suffering moved Sadık Özgür to build a hospital.
If I ever have the means, I will build a hospital for this hometown.
When the Promise Became Reality
Sadık Özgür kept his promise. The hospital he built in Divriği became the fulfilment of the personal promise he had made in the face of that suffering.
Legacy
After Sadık Özgür’s death, the Sadık Özgür Memorial House opened in Divriği. His personal belongings, a model of the hospital and the door of his village house are displayed there.
The Memorial House continues the same story. Its purpose is to inspire future generations through Sadık Özgür’s story.
